    Best set-up for a Titan 29??

Hey guys, this is my Titan 29, which was built and then shipped over to me in the UK by MadMikePags ().

The build is exceptional and it runs as sweet as a nut. Only thing is, it runs so well, that I think it could handle a bit more speed.

I run it on a Nemesis 10xl, with a Hydra 120 esc and on 14.8v via two 3000mah 7.4v packs. I can't remember the prop size, as the PM that Mike sent me was via my old user name, which I couldn't access, so I have had to start a new account.

Anyways, I just wondered what my options would be. I have heard that I could simply use a 6s pack, but surely this would push the ESC to its limit??

Any comments or advice would be welcome!!

(Oh, and a huge thanks to Mike for the awesome build, and for the effort of getting it sent all the way to me in the UK. Cheers!!)

Neu motor, higher capacity batteries and 180 amp esc as a minimum. Do not go 6S!

      go 5s :) ... I have a titan 29 with a 10xl too... I use a x447 prop with the 10xl.... goes nice.... if I go 5s I go x442 and x445...

or yes you could upgrade to a 1515 1y or the like....but then you will need the 180 amp esc for sure.... I'd start by going x442 on 5s then going to x445 if temps are ok.... the 10xl's like 5s!!! I run them in my twin Supercat too... both on 4s and 5s...

Your current setup is nice and stable. If you push this hull too far she gets squirrely and will air out , chine dance & likely get airborne at much over 52 mph. If you go bigger, run 4S2P 5000's for more runtime/punch and the added battery weight is necessary to keep it on the water.

        Here's a ridiculous setup [ Neu 1515 1Y / Tutnigy 180 / 4S2P 5000's / M545.] - just for giggles !

        '11 NAMBA [P-Ltd] : Mono, Offshore, OPC, Sport Hydro; '06 LSO, '12,'13,'14 P Ltd Cat /Mono

yup I run 4s2p in mine properchopper... works nice and does keep her down on the water.... I think the 10xl is a great all around setup for good run times and all the power the t29 really needs... I have actually used a x450 with good results with my 10xl on 4s.... in fact I think thats about as much as mine can handle...

Thanks for the feedback guys, think I'll have a try with 5s and a different prop, before I go with the 'giggles' option!!

After it taking nearly 4 hours to upload the HD content......

A short vid with its current set-up. I think I actually managed to give it some throttle a few times, but the wind was really strong and the boat is too light in this form.

                Titan 29" on 5S

I'm trying to set up my Titan 29" to run on 5S2P with Zippys 5000mAh 40C and I tought is better to go on this old thread insted of starting a new one.
My present motor, a Feigao 10Xl, got too hot (86°C=186F) after 5 minutes at full trhottle with an X440 prop and the speed was only 58Km/h = 36Mph.
The problem could be the boat is running too wet.
The COG was at 34% hence I'm trying to move the batteries more back.
                Here is what I made:
Two battery trays angled downward at the front

This is the position of the batteries with COG at 34% like before

And this is the position of the batteries with COG at 28%

Do you think that it could work?

its a stable boat below 50mph. get above that and it starts to pack to much air and will become unstable if your racing with others. As your speed increases move you cg forward and this will help keep the noise down but still allow the boat to air out.

you can also look at raising the strut a bit as this will allow the boat to settle in the water a bit more but still be fast.

you could also work on finding the prop you like and detongue it as this will free up some rpm and load on the batts which in turn will give you a bit more top end

lastly switching over to a 4s setup will lighten the boat and give you more rpm as they won't drop the voltage under load like nimh will.
