    Typhoon 500 motor on 6s problem.(video)

Well after the fun with this motor on 5s I thought I'd try it out on 6s.
Well it was a short run,and belive me, cold to get it back.

Any idea on what went wrong. When I plug in a lipo, the led light on the ecs counts the cells (2s and it will blink twice and on 3s etc.), but no sound ore anything from from the typhoon.Any tell tell signs that the motor is belly up?
    Thanks

Does the motor spin ok by hand? I run that motor in my 6s heli and it runs great. More than likely its the ESC.

the ecs led blinks/count the cells on a lipo when i plug it in, but no sound from the engine.motor turnes over fine by hand, faint smell, but nothing difference than ,say , from a 4s tour on the lake.
esc is a turnigy 180 amp, I use seperat battery pack, and solder like a pro :-)
Will pull it out tomorrow and have a look. i don't have another engine to test, the stock one
burned up in 5 seconds with the turnigy.

There may be a c clamp on the shaft. Holding it from sliding out. If there is, you have to spread it to remove the clamp.

The wires on that motor are too small. Replace them with a larger gauge wire or you will continue to melt the solder from the heat generated on the 16 ga wire. 16 gauge is only rated for 22 amps.

Next time I will get 2 my self, it's so cheap, and I think it perfomed rally great in this cheap boat. Next spring I guess I'm going for the Geicko anyway.

But I will have a go at the typhoon, and try a 6s before I give yp,but I don't know how this is assembly together, I will try to solder it between the hole in the front, It looks like a really cold solder, almost like the wire just have been laid beside, and then shrink tube has held it in place :-)

It's really to cold here now anyway, -2 in the morning, so I guess it's back to some heliflying and railroading instead, and the boat is going on the shelf.

I had my son's nikko boat with me, so when the surge crusher stopped, I thought , not a problem, but guess what, the battery was out of juice. Ooh bugger. It was like 8-10 meters away, no branches in sight that was long enough either, so
I know, never swim for it, but I’m like a short and t-shirt untill it snow's guy, but let me tell ya, when the water was over my belly I just, man this is to cold. So we drove home, quick charge the battery pack , and drove back. Dang, boat is gone. But luckily it had drifted over to the other side, and my wife found it.

Before another Typhoon you might try the HK 3126 motors, they handle 1500 watts, much better built and run 6s well. I run them in twin cats. (only $19)

I have a folding fishing pole with several bobbers and some weights that I can cast out and snag the boat if it's in casting range. About 100ft. Low cost rescue. =)

                Hope this helps.
