    Stinger height/depth

Finally received my smith cat hull today! Im looking at the parts I have here adn trying to do a mental mock up. It looks like the 1520's I planned on running might be too big for this girl. I have a couple SV motors I guess I will run if I have to.

As far as the stuffing tubes/stingers go, how far up from the bottom of the sponson should the bottom of the stinger be? (I hope that makes sense...if I set the boat on the table and just set the stingers up against the back of the sponsons that would be even...I imagine I would want to go up a tad from that so the prop doesnt try to lift the entire boat out of the water?)

Any other tips anyone has to offer in regards to the building of this boat would be greatly appreciated as this is my first. I will be starting a build thread shortly.

As you can see it has a lot of step to it.

Keith, I've only set up one cat with a single motor so I can't be much help. I'd say that you may want to configure the mounting design to allow for height adjustments when tuning the hull. Jay ?

Mount the stingers as close to the inside of the sponsons as you can. 1/16"-1/8" above the bottom of the sponsons should be fine for the height.

Did you machine the brackets flat on those SV struts?

I got them from Diegoboy. He already had them machined so they are straight.

What's the purpose of mounting them closer to the inside? I imagine the closer they are to the center, the better it will turn...is that the idea?

With it closer it drives the boat straighter when one side unloads.
