NQD Jet boat first few mods

Hi all , i plan on getting one of the nqd jet boats as they seem really popular and i cant seem to find a graupner jet sprint here in aus.

I want to use it as a rescue boat for my gas hydro so i just want to be reliable and have a little poke without going brushless as i want to keep cost to a minimum.

So i was wondering what would be a good first few mods i was thinking of fitting a esc servo and new rx/tx and watercooling the stock motor with some copper tubing but overall what would be a good first mod.
