    what ESC?

am getting ready to build my first FE (sort of FE) boat and have the following specs on the motor/battery set up I will be running:

    3300KV motor/3S required/ 55A continuous/70A burst
    3S 5000mah Lipo/40C

    Now, for everyones input:

am planning on using one of the Sea King ESC's (to keep costs down) and need to know what Amp rating unit I need to run it reliably on. Am also planning on putting extra Capacitors on the ESC as well.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi there Carl!

I would go with the 80A unit...you should be fine...

What type of hull are you running this setup in?

Missed not seeing you at the Chesapeake race! I could not make it to Haggerstown...but I heard you were there...

I think I will have better luck next season with my JAE 21 FE...

      same as yours Kent.
just using the 3.5 hull kit is all.

I would think that the Sea King 60A unit would be ok to use with your setup...80A with no worries...

The only 80amp hobbywing seaking esc I know of is the HV model which doesn't support 3s. I never seen just a 80amp none HV seaking.

Ah, Yes, you are correct Diesel (thanks)...it would either be the 60A or 90A unit...

It's a good idea with esc's to buy what you can afford. So in this case you could technically get by with the 60amp although it is close to what motor can pull and if you over prop it it will pull more amps so in this case the 90amp would be the safer bet, but if you have a few extra bucks get the 120amp esc which would allow you more range to play with different set-ups or use in a different boat later down the road. thanks much guys.
Will consider the 120A unit if the wallet allows.
If not, then it will be the 90 A unit.
