    What is it!!!

i have a MRP 42" offshore that is missing the speed control.

the only problem is that i have no idea what motor is in it,

there are no decals on the case or any factory markings

there are 2 markings on the outside of the case both are in black sharpie, one is 1200 and the other is 120

and there are numbers on the internal structure of the motor again in black sharpie they are 3232 and 872

thanks in advance for the help.

I have no idea but suggest you toss that motor and buy a new one along with a new ESC.

Motor is a Plettenburg. German made. One of the highest quality brushed motors you can buy. Original purchase price was probably in the $300 area.

I would, as I noted it was a brushed design but did not know the manufacturer. I have a lathe etc. for brushed motors and they are not worth the time and expense....brushless!

Douggie must not be the frugal lad we thought him to be. The OP should not toss the motor! He can sell it on e8ay for a tidy sum...at least more than the garbage man fee....there is a collector's market for these.

Here is what I did, but you could go less motor. Probably one of those Castle 1717s...

The funny thing is I still run brushed motors in two small H&M hulls as I have the replacement parts and I like tinkering with motors.

Actually, Doug and Douggie were both pretty generous with their old equipment if it wasn't competitive any more. They gave away or sold real cheap plenty of stuff to the newbies in the club.

At least until they started to be competition :)

I still have a handful of the old Plett 290/30 motors and ESCs to run them. Like they said above, these are great stuff!

i would like to run it as long as it still runs, mainly because of it being an older boat,

but i dont know what speed control i would need or what batts to run it on.

Here is my 2c worth from somone who ran a LOT of brushed motors.
Keep that motor as a shelf-queen or sell it to the highest bidder on the bay.

For what it will cost you for a good brushed esc you would be better off going to BL. I was told this so many times and I killed a lot of brushed gear before I made the jump.
I still run brushed in my tow boat, tug and rock-crawler. Any high power setups run better / easier with BL.

I still smoke BL setups but that is because I am a bit eccentric with some of my straight line boats.

                            Your boat and your call.
                            See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

IF you decide o throw the moor away, throw it in a box a little wrapping foam and send it my way, I even pay for postage

There is a "Kiwi" in this forum that either is silent (or never logs in), he has an 1/8 scale and he used a Plettenberg... it is a Hydro picklefork style and he was clocking 80mph... not too shabby if you ask me
