importance of taping and foaming a hatch

I got lazy today and payed for it ....kinda.My hatch blew off doin 40 into a barrel roll and oops forgot to tape hatch and forgot to reinstall foam in hull...yep im lazy.So the hatch sunk but luckily the hull ended right side up..however I used my foot as a scan tool and recovered the hatch in 4 foot of pond water that was 40-50 ish ccccold.so the point is always always tape and foam the hach and hull whether you are sport running, goofing off,or racing.Seems like the same old story but we have all done it lol.due diligence

    lesson learned, right?
    lol

even with hatches taped down sometimes it happens, the water hits the tape just right o the tape is not very sticky anymore... anyway, gone is the hatch... and if you lucky ONLY the hatch. I lost a hatch in a similar manner and all I thought about while the hatch was sinking was... crap, I forgot the noodles in the hull... luckily the hull landed right side up. Moral of the story, even if you are only "testing" go in as you were racing!!!

I did the same thing and lost a gps in the roll. Never even set it in the water without tape period.
