Unless runtime is your only concern a motor with more rpm ie a
kv of 2000-2200 will give you more speed and avoid running a large diam prop which will tend to unsettle a cat.

I've got a question for you...I noticed you add a "safety loop" between the esc & batteries. Why are you doing that?

      Thanks.

Sak, the safety loop is mandatory for racing in Australia. But it does come in handy for a quick prop change or strut adjustment

I really love my setup for sport running the MM, decent run times and heat has not been a problem. I'm running a Neu (not Castle) 1515.1Y, Turnigy 4S, Castle HV 180. This setup likes small props (not larger than an X440-3) and runs 57 to 58.5 mph on GPS.

Thanks for letting me know that. My buddy has the 1515 1y and he hasn't been able to get those speeds with his props. Now I'll know what the prop should be for the 1515.

In regards to my setup, I'm sure your correct in regards to the 1515 but I'm just not in the position to get that one because of $$$. Hence why I was thinking the 1518 1Y or 1520 1Y.

I really wanted to jump on the 1520 1Y but I think the consensus is that my 125A esc won't be able to handle that... so it seems the 1518 1Y may be the better answer of me...

Thanks for sharing your ideas. I really appreciate that.

Wow, a 1520 should really be sweet in this hull.
I bet that motor would not break a sweat

The best prop so far for my 1515.1Y setup has been the V537-3 prop. The fastest and coolest running.

I am still playing with the Y357-3 setup, but it is very sensitive. Running a flat stut up to 3/16ths up on the strut and the boat will not even plane. The X440-3 prop at anywhere from a flat strut to 3/16ths up is just a beautiful triim on the boat and is so smooth you think it is going really fast - 60+ mph.
