MG Decals left an outline...

I removed the decals off my Miss Geico boat last night, looking to do my own design. Once the were removed u can see an outline of the letters left behind. At first I thought it was possibly residue left behind from the decal but it wont come off. It almost looks like if you've had a bumper sticker on your car for years and then peel it off.

Any suggestions on getting rid of this? I wold have added pics but it doesn't show up in them.

You may be able to buff or wax them out?

I actually tried that, had no effect on it.

Get the finest sand paper/emery cloth you find - and try wet sanding lightly. You don't want to hurt the gel coat

It's not gel coat - it's paint.

The adhesive on the decals may have reacted with the paint, especially if it was not fully cured when the decals were stuck on. I've had this happen when masking off recently dried paint for two-tone paint jobs. Not much you can do; try some white polishing compound but be careful !

The paint did not have time to set up, like somebody side wet sand it and buff it.

Thanks for all the info guys. I think I'm just gonna strip it down and start from scratch.
