Optimal set up for 30" hydro.

What do you guys suggest for motor and esc running 4s.
    Best Kv for speed etc.

    Cheers

I plan on running a 1521 1.5d in my FE30 (1860kv). Seems like guys were having good performance with something around that KV. Check out the vids of one with the 2200kv leopard motor. Wild fast.

      Yeah i saw that...very nice!
      i'm running a 1515 1y and getting good results.
The hull can be pushed further though.
Will 4s be enough for the 1521?

      thanks

I'm hoping I can prop up enough for 4s to be enough. I'm working on finishing up my cyberstorm before I start constructing the FE30 though. Right now its just sitting in the top of my closet with a part mountain building up behind it. LOL

I should note, I don't race. All my boats are for my own pleasure. Not looking for ballistic speed, just reliability.

If you check out the Neu motor chart the 1520 says this
          1900 1.5D 16.93 3.3 0.005 3.5 60K 1750 watts 3500 watts 31 volts 633.3333333

It will sniff at only 14 volts...lol

I was hoping Darin would chime in. I remember reading he had a 1521 1.5d he was going to throw into his FE30. Was hoping to hear how it ended up working out, if he ever got it built. I got my 1521 with my cyberstorm, but decided to put a 1527 in it. Who doesn't need a motor half the size of their hull? haha

When I was looking for a motor for my PT Stealth the ones that seemed to be mentioned the most were the Leopard 2200kv and a Neu 1515 1Y. Definitely not the only or maybe not the absolutely best just the ones that seemed most popular. I ended up going with the Leopard 2200kv and what looks to be a 180 Seaking or Turnigy (long story). So far very happy with my choice, nice and cool and pretty quick.

                  Just for reference, I'm running the 1515 1Y in a 30" Vegas. It's mildly propped with an X642 and it's hitting 62mph w/(2) 4S 5000 packs.

                      In parallel right?

I'm thinking about throwing a newly bought 1515 1Y in my Vegas Deuce on 4S.

Yes, in parallel. Great setup for the Vegas. The extra weight does it good! There's a vid of some straight line runs in the vid section if you're interested.

I am running the same boat with the same motor. I am going to try a heavily modified 447 to see if that gets me comfortably over 60mph. I have wondered about using a 1521 as well. Has anyone gotten the insane FE into the 70mph range?

Jeepers, you were one of the guys I was trying to remember running the 1521 in this size range hydro. Thanks for the input. I've been reassured by some of the FE gurus here that the motor should work fine.
