Is there a way to clean up smoke damage?

I was drivng my proboat yester and the esc smoked, the whole inside is brown. They already said I could sned the boat in but there not sure if they would cover it, I tried a spare esc and everything seems to work, just a lot of black and it stinks! The hull is not really damaged so I was just going to keep it, is there anything that would clean the brownness?

get out some organic solvents... the melting and stuff is a bit harder to clean but acetone works well

I think I read somewhere someone used oven cleaner.

Hey the acetone cleaned it right away, oh ya it eats plastic, the hull is clean with holes now. For sure need a new hull now

Solvents arent too nice to plastic...just for reference, I tried rain x yesterday on a boat that had esc throw-up all over it and it took it right off. Always pretest anything on paint or plastics.

I think the hull will last the year, holes and boubbles are on the inside, not through the hull. Just a lesson learned.

A safe cleaner is denatured alcohol. Cheap in the drigstore and works well without driving you out of the house like many other organic solvents will. Sorry you had to learn the hard way about acetone and poly resins, next time wait for a few more answers to a question before deciding which to pursue....

Ya, I normally put some acetone on cloth... then use it... Can't use too much it IS an organic solvent... But that is the best way (same with the alcohol or you can even use gas, but remember the stuff will eat eat eat up anything)

For the record maybe I should have been clear with a "little" amount of acetone to use... kinda feel bad now

I had no idea the stuff was that stronge.

Heres the damage won't really see once velcro and motor are back in, most of the plastic inside is pitted, twords the top in the battery tray, I did not know what was going on and the plastic started pealing right off like paint remove was on it. This hull should hopefully last the rest of the year.

Yeah well that's why its an organic solvent and why its a chemist's right hand man..... organic chem 101. Acetone and other solvents are also what your nail polish and paint remover are made of... Also this is why gas is a great way to clean spots off of your car but you can only have it on there for a minute before it goes right through the wax and wears down the paint. Again I should have been more clearer on the amount. I apologize

Lay down some carbon it doesn't look that bad though
