Genesis Cat with Leopard 5692 motor

Looking at getting a Genesis Cat & upgrading the motor & esc Mainly for straight line runs, Is the Leopard 5692 motor to much for this hull (37"+ hardware x 9" wide). Looking at 1090kv on 8s or 1350kv on 6s, Or is the smaller Leopard 4074 motors better suited for this hull. Im looking at Leopard motors because the pretty much available in the UK.Martin.

1350kv on 6s should rock. I ran a 580 in mine. Above 50mph hull gets a lilttle flightly. I bet a 4082 would work great as well. http://www.himodel.com/electric/LEOP...BP4082_2Y.html (ignore the pic and read the specs, it's 1500kv not 2000 like the image says).I would go with the 4082 if you have them in the UK. You can use the existing motor mount, but would need to change out the aft support ring to a 40mm size.

I'm currently running a seaking 180amp esc with the stock motor but was thinking of the fiegao 540xl 10 on 3s2p. Will this motor fit the standard mount?

Yea it will fit it's a 36mm can, but to be honest it is not a good set-up. The genesis hull is a little to big for a 540xl can JMHO, need a little bit bigger to push to hull to any decent speed and not over work the motor. Also 3s is just not enough voltage for a 10xl now 2 3s batteries in series for 6s would work, but just plan 3s will not work at all. I had a custom mount with a 580 7L on 5s. I bet a 4082 would work out nice though.

Sorry I did mean 6s2p. I want a motor that will work well with the standard mount though. I don't want anything to crazy as I only use it for a bit of fun, mid 40s is plenty for me.

For a better upgrade over the stock it will work and fit what you have. Stock water jacket will prob work as well, not sure about mid 40s though.

The 56mm motor is just to huge for a mid 30" boat. I would suggest the 4074 1400kv motor on 6s.

I had a lot of problems above 50mph in my hull.

I want a 4082 to try on something, I need another boat

The 580 are listed at 45mm and it pushed the hull over the limits, so yea a 56mm would be a bit overkill realistically lol, thank you for bringing me back to reality lol. I think the hull only is like 37" long.

Re making/ mod mounts etc is not a problem as i have a fully equipped machine shop at home so any thing can be made or modded to suit. What would the 4082/2y 120a,3500w,1500kv on 6s =33300rpm, Or 4082 2.5y 82a,1250kv on 7s=32375rpm compared with the 4074 motor, As i said its for short streaight line speeds more than circuits. Martin.

So would the leopard 4074 go straight in then, I'm a bit of noob when it comes to upgrading motors, also I've ordered an x642 prop for it. How rubbish is the stock motor on the genesis?

It won't fit the aft support bracket. The stock is a 36mm you need a 40mm. I use a stock mount like yours reinforced with a 40mm support ring I got from the swap shop so I didn't have to get a different mount and I use a silicon jacket with it. I run it in a DF33 copy. 2200kv version with a seaking 180.

I didn't even bother with the stock motor. I changed it asap and sold the motor unused. I think the KV is to high and the motor is to small for a hull that size JMO.

Does the Genesis suffer from blow over at 50+ mph more than the smaller Apparition cat. And what is the Genisis like re blow over on fairly calm conditions at around 60+ mph as boat will only be run in good conditions. Martin.

In the video in my signature I tied a m445 and different cg's and it blew over. With a CF45 it ran 48mph and perfect. Their are some guys over 50 and running good. I just didn't have the patience on the hull. I had other things going on.

Leopard 5692 motors will be too big for a twin serup, Leopard 4060 will be great
