Cyberstorm beats gassers at Camarillo race !

Now that I got your attention, here's the skinny : I drove up to the Camarillo Pond Rats NAMBA points race to see Tyler race his 10S Cat against the gassers in Open [anything goes] class. Tyler was looking good 'till he blew over, got his SC wet & that was it for the Cat. Most of my Legg Lake buddies were there and convinced me to race. I had my new Cyberstorm in the car, so I entered Rookie Class instead of Open, [ Open Class had 75mph riggers, monos, G4 Hydros & a lone Jersey Skiff which would create tidal waves for my boat]. Three youngsters with gas monos, another adult with a badly prepared DF33, & poor me in Rookie. I run with gassers all the time at Legg & knew that against 45" monos, my 'Storm would be at a big disadvantage, but WTF. The first heat I entered, the DF blew over in turn 3, I was all over the place but began picking off the big monos until I got caught in a hole and stuffed [ see end of vid]. The next heat I stayed in lane six, away from of most of the slop, & picked them off one by one & took a first place win. What a thrill to blow by big gassers ! Final heat I tried hard but got caught in a hole again & that was that. All in all a great day with the guys !!

Hey you even got a first place plaque too, oh yeah so did all the other kids.

Good fun even and good practice on how to avoid bad drivers. Thanks for coming up Tony. Although the day was more a less a bust with the cat bailing, it sure beats working in the office.

That was a good smack doing 70 into the turn. The controller is already boxed up and ready for repair. Luckily that was the worst of it. The batts were OK and all I need is another cowl.

I guess I'll be calling Remy @ AM first thing in the morning.

Next time Tony, we'll have to run the FE30 in open. You shuold have no problem staying up front.

That sure looked like fun guys. The only thing we got to run today was our selves from the rain.

Exactly ! (stepping up on my soapbox): Racing, besides being more fun than anything you can do with your clothes on, really teaches volumes about setup. While it's one thing to go for hyper speed, and often ending up with what I call a ZSP [Zoom-Splash-Plop] boat, tuning for racewater handling, sustainability for the duration of the race, and slowly and incrementally perfecting driving skills is where it's at , for me at least. The camaderie between racers is another huge plus, and the afterglow rivals that of, well, you know. Just do it !
