HELP - water coming up stuffing tube :(

    Hey guys,

I know this has probably been covered a few times...but I'm really having a hard time keeping water out of my hull Here's a quick pick of the culprit...

If you guys could shoot me your quick fix build ideas...much appreciated

Sometimes silicon tubing over the stuffing tube and flex shaft helps a lot. Should only need about 3/4' to do it.

As mentioned above plus on some applications you can add heat shrink between strut and stuffing tube.

Yeah....I put TONNES of it LOL....and it loves to splatter and make a neat little perpendicular line on the inside of the hull

Thanks, I tried putting silicon tubing inbetween the stuffing tube and flex shaft but never thought of placing the silicone tubing over the stuffing tube

OK....I'll try that as well....I can understand this controlling the grease splatter, but does this keep out water as well?

            I use heat shrink aswell.
Dosnt compleatly stop it, but 90%.

Propperchopper just posted about using a vac plug. You might want to have a look at that.

Can you post of picture of what the stuffing tube connection to the strut looks like? Also, what kind of bearing/bushing are you using in the strut?

That is exactly what most of us do. You hit it right on the head. Tough to describe. A picture speaks volumes!

So this little piece of tubing is well greased so it does not weld itself to the flex tube ?

It is just cooling line tubing. How hot does your stuffing tube get?!

Here's one that always gets missed...... Be sure to grease between the stuffing tube and the teflon tube. Water can sometimes seep between the two.
