    46" Hydro Build

Has anyone used a "Little Screamer" for a large fiberglass hydro around 46" for a build? Is this motor enough to power this boat? What did you use for an ESC and batteries? Is it practical to make it electric or should I give in and make it a gasser? I don"t know the make of the boat but it has some interesting sponson geometry on it

These motors were made to replace gasoline engines in rc boats.Generally, gasoline engines are ran in 1/8 scale for the most part.Your 46" hull should be a good base for the LS.It will have plenty of power and torque to get you moving. Most are using the Turnigy Monster 2000 esc rated at 200 amps and will run up to 12s lipo.Thats what Ill be using for mine and I think thats what the manufacturer suggests too.Run it on 10s and check everything.Try 12s after you confirmed everything is good.Make sure you use a separate power source for the steering servo or get an HV BEC that will handle 12s.

Do you mean start with 2-5s in series and check everything, then go to 2-6s in series. Do you know if the Turnigy Monster 2000 esc will hold up with 2-6s in series.

Has anyone else worked on a big build with a Little Screamer? I could use more input before I start this build.

Yes,that is what I meant.Use two packs wired in series will help you set center of gravity and side to side balance. The Monster is rated to 12s lipo, but some people suggest not running on an esc's max cell rating. Some get away with it,some dont.I blew my Monster up on 12s bench testing my LS,but my brain died for a second because I had used a BEC not rated for 12s.My fault it burned.I did use the Monster earlier that day running on 8s.I added cooling lines to it and it barely got warm.
