This is the first I've seen of this company and to be honest, I'm am quite surprised at their professionalism. Bad mouthing nay-sayers on their website wether they are right or wrong is very disappointing to see.

              Put up or shut up

You no what I would love to see these guys show up to just one NAMBA or IMPBA race and just run. I think that would put a rest to all this sh*t I've raced R/C Cars and boats for years if your not in it you cant win it. I'm very great full to all the people that do race and have given me all the help over the years and I'm glad to pass on all the good advice I've gotten here. I would also like to thank Steve for giving us all a place to share all this great knowledge.

I just love the comment from your VALUED customer about being better than a 1521 ??? You must be joking those boats are not even hitting 40 in that vid, just cracked me up big time.
Oh and they are only Stage 1, 4s just imagine at stage 69 on 7s wow

As far as sales go I will explain how I do my buying.
I will search the net to find out what I need, this will mean reading forums and customer reviews.
Once I know what I need lets say a 18" Husky chainsaw, I will then look for dealers with a good price. If I went to a site that all the shiate like GF I would walk (click) away and go somewhere else.
That sort of thing is a major turn off.

Now we all know the demographic that GF are pandering to with all this stage 3 rubbish, they are the impulsive, uneducated and possibly unable to be educated 14-17 yo lads who really deserve to have thier money liberated from them if they are too stupid to do their homework before a purchase. I'll wager that they were too stupid to do their homwork at school as well.

This may sound a little cruel but there will always be idiots around and there are plenty of folk about who will take advantage of that fact and rip the dummies off.
Life is harsh at times and I'm sure we all know that !!

I do not defend what GF do but I do understand what they do and how they continue to do so. Some here have pointed out that we need to educate or inform the buyer. That is going to be a long job and I have no idea how to even begin.

As a young teenager I spent a few coins on items from glossy adverts promising all sorts. ( nothing smutty or dodgy ) I learnt then to do a bit more research.
Maybe that is what a lot of young folk need to do, lose a few dollars and become despondant and then pick it up and come back a bit smarter.

I do not want to type all night and make this a sermon or speach.

Let's enjoy our boats and watch the entertainment on other sites if that is your thing.

Dana being a big fan of GF stuff is no bad thing in my book. Defending their marketing style is not a good look, take a step back and try to see the big picture. It is not hard to see who has the knowledge and experience. Not me but many of the very well respected and record holding members here.

From what I've read so far, If we did, they would just slap a stage 3 sticker on it and call it their own.

I just can't believe they would use the F word on their site when people of all ages visit or find them. VERY Poor stunt. In this case you are better off shutting up than bringing disgrace to your site and products. Does not matter if someone else said it.

I have been a advertising and marketing director for over 20 years and when you take the low road you do nothing but hurt your own image and reputation. Do positive strategies and you can come out on top when being shot down. Of course, this takes skill and experience to turn bad press around.

On a positive note.... all this bad PR has brought their prices within reason on some items.

I am too. But you may want to convey to them their approach is in very very bad taste and this ploy will just set them back.

I suspect by Monday this info will be removed if they have any marketing sense at all. Also, bad publicity can work in some situations and gain exposure. Gorilla marketing is also very common but not welcomed by most of the public. Yes, you gain the exposure but less than 20% will respond and the other 80% will talk about you and convice 7 others you are nuts and kill your chances of gaining new customers from silly marketing stunts. Best advice...do not respond unless it is positive and has hard facts to prove it.

I could go in to why this is the best move but this is a RC forum not a marketing session to teach others...that's why they make good ad agencies and PR firms. They also call them spin doctors :)
