    Skunk Cat Gen 1 Set-up

Hey guys I have a few questions on my skunk cat. Getting ready to start buying some motivation for this hull and am a little confused on best set up. I was thinking the Leopard 4074 1774kv motor Steve has, and a seaking 120 amp esc. Is that good power or would the 4074 2000kv or 2200kv on a t-180 esc run better? I know I want to use a leopard motor and either the seaking/turnigy 120 or 180 esc's. They are budget friendly for me. I would like a race set-up on 4s maybe even 5s for some fun. Also are most running the batts in the middle forward of the motor or in the sponsons? Any suggestion, information or pictures would be greatly appreciated

I have the 2000 KV motor and just put it in my Mean Machine on 4S and ran it a few lengths of the pond yesterday
I could not get the cooling can on the way my motor mount is so I just wanted to try it and see if it would work before I changed my mount around

I think the 2000 will be better than the 1774 unless you were really keen on 5S

I had an 8XL in before and this is an improvement so now I will be changing the motor mount to get the cooling can on it

What esc are you using with that 2000kv? Did you try the Silcone jacket? That way you don't have to change the mount. I like the idea of the 1774kv, I could run 4s for sport, 5s for fun and 6s for . I wonder what the amp load on that 1774kv is, I haven't found any information on it. The 2000kv is def on my mind and a strong option. I really don't want to run the 2200kv, but I am not against it.

Do you run the batts in your sponson in your MM?

The MM has a plex glass plate that is the same level as the tunnel that the batteries sit on one on each side

I have the second generation skunk cat and I run the lipos in the sponsons

I'm no expert on cats or anything for that matter. If you go with the 1774 you could get away with the 120. I would go to the 180 with eighter choice. What kind of speed are you aiming for? For pure sport and just all around fun I would go with the 1774.

That's my goal. I want pure sport and fun. I want a well balanced set-up.

Then you have chosen a good kv. I would still go with more than 120 IMO so when you want to run more voltage for fun you'll be covered.

I was really hoping to get by with a 120, I may not be a bad Idea to step up though. I cannot find ANY specs or anyone besides steve & kershaw that sell a 4074 1774kv motor. Very strange, info on that motor isn't even listed on leopards home page.

It should pull right in the 80-100 amp range with correct propping

Just my $0.2 I did the math and the 1774 motor will give you a 40-45 mph boat and the 2000 motor will give you a 50-55 mph boat you just have to decide how fast you want to go.

Is that on 4s? If so that is a good target speed. I am happy with that. I may be able to get some 5s saw runs as well.

Seaking 120 & Leopard 4074 1774 is going to be the ticket. Wiz I have a 120 in my garage, next time we meet up I will hand it over to you.
