    RC Raceboats Powertrims 3/16"

    Hello,

I' ve got RC Raceboats Powertrims, those parts are very high quality but I need to upgrade those stingers.

The Drive dogs are strongly glued on shafts,so I can' t move them,
The free part of the shaft is very long and if I put a X442 propeller there is 1cm smooth shaft after the propeller.

I' m thinking put adapters like on the drawing, Those custom adapters will change the lenght between transoms and propellers, that will be better

    give me your advice, thanks

Those adapters look nice!. Great work. But I must say the way those flex shafts are supported is asking for wear issues over time. From the photos you show there is only a very short section of the hard shaft that seems to be supported inside by a bearing. There should be much more support then 1/3 of the length of the hard shaft. Just my 2 cents.

I agree with John. How much time was spent on making those adapters I would of spent pressing the drive dogs off and putting them in their correct location. Don't know if it just the angle of the picture but they also look to be different lengths on the shaft.

If you are trying to get rid of the space between the end of the prop and the nut, you can use a short piece of tight fuel tubing to take the space. I have also used wheel collars with set screws as prop nuts when I've run into that problem.

Yes Steven I can use fuel tubing but I don' t like this solution.
First I' ll use nylstop nuts (french name) for testing the propellers and after may be the bullet nuts with the correct propellers.
In the powertrims there are 3 ball bearings, do you think that using the adapter 15mm long can damage BB?
If the distance from transom to Drive Dog is 15mm longer, this will be better, with this DD adapter I can resolve 2 problems

The problem you have is that you're not touching all the bearings with the short shaft. Running like that could damage the last bearing... Better try to heat up the dog drive and move it where it should be.

I tried to remove the glued drive dog but it' s not possible. The lenght of the hard shaft in the ball bearings doesn' t change

By extending the prop further out you will put more load on the bearings.

Get a peice of hard wood or metal drill a hole just large enough for the cable to slid through but not the drive dog. Put some heat on it and tap it off.
