    Ned does do excellent work!!! He made some 5mm X .187 couplings for me with 3 sets of set screws 120' apart on the cable side and I have been happy with them.
    Like Jay said you do want to silver solder the end of the cable.

          Very true, it was me. But with the new connector Steven sent me (thanks again) if that would have happened I would have 3 other set screws to use so I vote for more kinda as a back up

            the only line I have lost were either snapped/twisted or while I was using screw based coupler... I agree with Fluid, in order to get it tight enough so it does not slip, it does damage to the flex, I dunno if it is more so on a thicker thread due to the small screws.
            I also find it a bit hard to center, it is off balance most the time I used it, maybe with more screws it'll be easier.
