I want a fast boat

I will step into the fray. I would say if you have the batteries and you are just getting started with boats, then go with the Traxxas Titan. If your batteries are not up to the task of the Titan go wtih the Gieco and then the Stilleto. I think you would be better served to start wtih a RTR or near RTR to start with. Pay attention to the battery issue. The Titan will need two 3s(11.1 volt) batteries to go fast. The other two boats need only two 2s(7.4 volts) batteries. Cheaper to run. Then, if you disccover you enjoy the hobby and want to do more you can build something from scratch.
I started with the SV27(also a good boat) and ran it for a year before I started putting together my own boats. You learn alot just by fixing and working on RTR boats and that prepares you for the next step of buying a hull and putting the internals in.Comment

I have a DF 29 and you can not set it up under your budget constraints, unless you buy used goodies and knockoff bits....What batteries do you own? Also this is not a rough water boat...set it up wrong and you will need a diver to find it

flight max and turnigys :P.Also if you look at post #14 i can get one with hard ware for $150.so that leaves the motor and esc.The esc is this one- http://www.hobbypartz.com/07e-c-seaking-120a.html.That leaves me at about $80 for the motor and props.Comment

I run the DF 29 with a Nemesis 8xl and an Octura M445 prop. I t runs in the high 40's with this set up.As for rough water, I run this when the RTR boats are afraid to come out and play, BGComment

I had the 29" copy with a 7Xl in it on 4s with an X640 prop. But found that an 8Xl with an X440/3 blade prop is a better package.
Here it is on the 7Xl before I sold it.
Cheers.
Paul.See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

Why not get the genesis and change the motor and esc to run on 6s? You can then use your radio gear and batteries in that. That would be my suggestion. That's what I am doing and I'm still learning. I've also ordered the venom p1 to have a play with. I feel a bit safer at the mo with a rtr.Comment
