    Aquastar ESC Timing Question

What would be correct timing for a UL-1 motor in hydro? There are 4 selectable settings:

    Low?
    Medium?
    High?
    Auto?

I have been using the "auto" for everything from spec motors to Feigao xls. Without a GPS I could not see any difference in each setting.

I used auto on my feigao then changed it to medium and I think it runs better on medium. UL motor is a 6 pole you could roll with auto or high.

I can't find the post, but someone else commented that in "Auto" mode, the timing varies 0 to 30 degrees and if you reach max rpm (and max advance), the ESC resets itself in order to prevent misfiring the array. At this point you have to throttle down to "reset" the ESC before you can power up again. Sounds strange, but I think I'll stick with a manual settings rather than "Auto".

I beleive it was drwayne that said that. I never had a problem with the auto timming setup. I do have problems with the auto cell count. It always sets it on cell higher. That setting I use manual count. It will not hurt to try different settings.

The original ESC is set at 10 degrees to match that 6 pole motor. You will have to find out whether it's the LOW or MEDIUM setting that is around that with your ESC. It Won't be the HIGH.
            Cheers.

From the manual, each setting has a range:

              Option 1: Low advance timing
              0°~15°
Recommended for more lower pole count motors. Gives more power and
              slightly less efficient.
              Option 2: middle advance timing
              5 °~ 20 °
Recommended for most motors .Gives a good balance of power and efficiency.
              Option 3: High advance timing
              15° ~ 30 °
Recommended for most of higher pole count motors
              Option4:Auto(default)
Recommended for most of all brushless motors.

So I'm not sure what's the correct choice for a 6-pole UL-1 motor?
