speedmaster rudder observation

so i ve got a new df29 in the works, speedmaster hardware etc (thanks steve :)) anyway, i noticed that the h2o pickup is on the left hand side of the rudder... since most of these boats are designed for clockwise oval racing, isn t the rudder pick up on the wrong side ??? surely the rudder would pick up more water if the hole was on the right hand side as opposed to the left ???

It will be alright. I have some fullers hardware that's on the right.

on the 'right' or the left ??? i m sure it ll be ok, but wouldn t it make more sense to put it on the other side ?? isn t the object of water cooling to get more as opposed to less ??

when i m in a right turn, it seems as tho the boat will get basically zero water flow...

The reality is you will get water through the system even in a turn - I've watched my boats' water exits and water continues to exit in turns although on some boats the volume is noticeably less. But most folks have too much water flow in the first place.....

There was a specific reason that most rudders have the pickup on the left, but I can't remember what it was now. Insane has holes on both sides of their new FE rudder - I like that even if it isn't strictly necessary.

I think it's because fuel engines need a little heat to run I don't run fuel so that's just my understanding.
