    antennas

After checking out a lot of pictures on this site,i've noticed quite a few boats without antenna tubes.

How are you guys running antennas?

    Cheers

With the new 2.4ghz radios some systems antenna's are not used. i.e the tactic/tower systems don't have an antenna on the rx. Check it out http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXWJN2&P=7. Very cost effecitive nice simple radio and no antenna. I use the tatic radio and just just buy extra rx's but I also do have a dx3s which rx's do require an antenna to run out the hull. I like the fact the tactic has no antenna but i like all the bells and whistles the dx3s has, just wish spektrum had a no antenna rx.

I assume your refereing to the mr200 rx? What I did with mine was take the longer of the 2 and run it out the hull, neatly rolled the second one up and used a twist tie to keep it from unravling and just tucked it away inside the hull. Only 1 of the 2 need to be outside the hull.

yeah, only the long one out of the hull.
I run and tape the small one up under the deck.
Wish i had known about the tactic before i bought the spektrum.

          oh well

Which spektrum do you have? I have the DX3S and it is a far superior radio compared to my Tactic.

I run spektrum inside the hull. I put velcro on the underside of my hatch (highest spot of the boat) and I take a small piece of shrink wrap (un-"shrunk") and wrap velcro (opposite kind as what I put on hatch) around it so I end up with a velcro tube. I then run teh antenna through the tube (you can put a dab of glue to hold it if you need) and stick the tube to the underside of the hatch when I put it on. Works for me

I agree the antenna thing blow. If I by a RTR or China boat that has a slot for the antenna already cut out I use my DX3s, If I buy a clean hull and don't want any antenna I buy another tatic rx. For only $20 it's hard to beat

I stewed over this question for about a month ...have a Tactic and a Hitec FM ...desired new radio....purchased a DX3S with marine rx....why?....I love the design thought of two antennas and an rx designed for boat applications.

                        Some things to think about...

2.4ghz and H20 don't mix so well, so getting a 2.4ghz anntenna up out of the hull and away from the water will give you the most range.

Also, if your boat capsizes, and you use a rescue boat to haul out a fishing line, the submerged anntenna tube gives the fishing line something to wrap around...
