How to safely store lipo with 5.5mm connectors?

I have been using deans ultras for approx 15 years. Now that I have a few 100 amp setups I needed to change to 5.5mm plugs. I have female on both positive and negative. My issue is that I'm stressing over the very ends touching in my battery box. I have ordered some silicon caps to fit snugly over the ends. But how are you guys handling this issue?

Fluid had mentioned polarizing them. With a male & female on each pack. If you cover the female connector all the way to the end you should be good not to short them out right?

Yes i have all mine polarized.
Male on the negative and female on the positive.
Mind you it is still not 100% safe so i bought some large diameter tubing for like a hose and it fits right over the end of the 5.5 and it pretty much fool proof if you remember to put them on.

Thanks for confirming that for me Taylor. I have 10 sets of the 5.5s just waiting for the packs.

          Steven,

Even with them polarized (I would suspect that most would be doing this), I cover the negative (male) terminal with rubber caps, or at the very least, a piece of electrical tape... As time goes on, the heat-shrink can pull back slightly an the contacts can come together... I know from experience!

On mine, when I have the Mfr make them for me (I use 6mm gold plugs) I ask them to be made with one lead abot 1/4 inch longer than the other. That and rubber caps ensure tey won't short !

I have the male and female 5.5 ends on my lipos also
I use the valve cap cover from car tires
the tread on the cap will screw on to the shrink wrap and stay perfect

I bought some fancy silicon caps today. But than I just thought of this, a basic pencil eraser

I just cut a piece of heat shrink about 3" long slip over one side the bend in middle and slip over other, its cheap, it works and we all have heaps of heat shrink.

5/16" screw protectors from the hardware store, if your local store is like mine...take a pack with you to make sure you get the right size(1/4" & 5/16" tend to be mixed). or order some from mcmaster-carr.

Thanks for all the good ideas. The big office stores locally have the basic pencil erasers. So i will give them a try. I would have went to the local hardware store for screw protectors, but after almost 100 years in biz, he closed. HD and Lowes killed him. I was quite sad. I shopped at his store at least once a week.

                            How about these?
