How strict is the 27-30% CG rule??

    Hey guys,

I'm just wondering how strict is the 27-30% CG from the transom rule? Does it really really have to be followed?

I've got a porpoising brushless CEN Waveshark where I was able to gain 10+km/h by adding weights to the bow but this brought the CG to almost 60% from the transom, when it was originally roughly 50%.

Should I consider moving the weight back??

Its not hard and fast at all, more like a good starting point for an average hull, I've had different boats running well from 24% to 40%, I'm surprised at 60% but I don't know that hull and if that is where it runs best then that is all that matters, not the numbers.
