brushless esc question with reverse ??

I am thinking I will convert my super flip SV 27 into my rescue boat with a wide pvc catcher on the front (will not be able to flip any more)
Is there any brushless esc that I could use on the SV 27 motor that has reverse and be able to use my Spektrum DX 3.0 pistol radio ?

I will still use the flex cable and only use reverse carefully(so cable does not unwind) if I am not lined up straight when I get to the stranded boat

reverse is kinda tricky, especially with brushless motors. By making the flex shaft spin in the opposite directions it is suppose to can very easily damage the flex shaft. With the amount of torque a brushless can deliver, opposite direection is bad also with a mono that set low in the water like a sv when you hit reverse the back will sink under water. Even by using carefully is still kinda rough on the cable. I use brushed motor and it works great. I use a traxxas xl-5 that has reverse. For a brushless setup a car esc would work, like a VXL-3s which is water resistant.

Reverse is tricky to "go easy on"............gonna be tough on the flexcable, can you install a straight shaft somehow since its just a rescue.

you can use the hydra esc`s they have reverce AND you can set the % on how much you whant them to do. i cant remeber the exsact settings. but mine is set to 12.5% reverse and sinse thats at max reverse trothle you still have the linier range so you dont damage your flex

Sounds like there is a couple esc that will work but they seem to cost more than my whole boat

Since I will not need to back up very far has anybody tried a reverse bucket like they have on a jet boat ?

My radio has the third channel and it would not take much to make something out of brass that could drop down behind the prop with another servo

traxxas makes a pretty beefy esc with reverse and you can program it to 50% rev or use you throttle epa to not rev as much(low throttle point)
