    mean machine motor 2

    jms,

i did not want to clog your thread with garbage so i will start my own pile...i am doing an experiment today at the pond...stupid or not it will keep me amused..my observation was that my mean machine was fast with a 1717 at 58 mph...my hypothesis on this expiriment is that the boat is going to fly really fast through the air

the control is a mean machine boat (probably out of control)

the variable is the leopard hobby beast 5692 1340 kv now mounted in the boat and water conditions

i will hopefully get some video and post some results

    happy boating

ok so here are some unimpressive results...on 6s lipo and x646 3 blade prop i got 54 mph..and the motor does not have cooling so i only made a few passes..i started propping up with not any real better results..i gained a couple of mph with an x452...and i do not have anything bigger to try...then i had catastophic failure on 7s lipo...my pack poofed at the end of my second with the x646 3 blade..my drive cable snapped and my motor mount broke loose..after it broke loose it had so much torque it bent the output shaft at a 35 degree angle or so!!! i have never seen a shaft bent like that...anyway the only good thing i noticed is that the hull liked the extra weight and it was more stable...i think this setup could be done but it needs to have a much bigger prop...like 55 to 60 millimeters..i will post a video in this thread when i get it dowloaded to my pc..i really expected a lot more speed...guess thats why i tested it...another thing i should have done is run 2p...i think i poofed my battery because of that

I dont think those speeds are unimpressive at all. For the RPM you were running on 6s I think 54mph was pretty good.

yeah i hear you i just had some really high expectations and i really cannot test anymore because of the equipment failure...maybe i will try again with another combo or buy another 5692 sometime

on the first vid on 6s1p turnigy 40c lipo on the second blow up vid was a hyperion 7s1p 35c..i do not have a logger and i probably should...i think i had multiple problems on the 7s run so i cannot even guess what i was pulling..my swordfish 240 is ok so so it was much less then that...on 6s the x646 3 blade was giving the best results..on 7s i feel i needed a bigger prop to cut down on some rpms..this motor can spin a large wheel

heres the breakdown on the failure what i think happened

1 on 7s and no water cooling the motor was building heat which transferred down my motor mount

2 my epoxy softened and mount broke loose

3 the mount wacked the bottom of the hull with massive force bending the shaft and cable snapped

4 at this point the motor was trying to pull more from my battery then it could give and blew a cell or two

the end and hopefully some good info

Bummer but why flip it over and let it all get wet? Should have gotten it up and out and pulled crap apart fast and throw the packs over in the lawn aways off.

At least we know what happens when packs get dunked...not much.

well i just figured eveything was a loss so i did not know really what to do so i just dunked it!?!?! ..hahaha..oh well its one of those things you are kind of unsure about going into the setup...trying to do something that has not really been tested and being still fairly new(year and a half) to all this it shows what can happen..i am sure it will not be my last time either...it was entertaining for those watching me too..not entertaing for the bank account of course..but we do not do rc boats because its cheap now do we?
