    Bushing

i been driving my DF 33 for a wile now. and time and time again the Bushing breaks right were the prop shaft ends\starts. it is a clean cut and the flex and shaft is always well lubed with marine grease (comes back lubedafter runs)

    1. can i drive with that AFTER i remove the end thats broken ?
    2. why do it keep breaking?
    3. is this normal that the Bushings breake like this ever 5-6 runs ?

i know this is not the worlds biggest exspence. but i keep having to order from usa and it take 1week+ to get them here.

A couple of questions need to be answered first. Whose strut or stinger are you using? Sounds like there is some internal section of either, that is not supported where shaft loading is appying radial loading and fracturing the structure beyond the materials modulus or flexibility. Since bushings are relatively solid and need to have lubricity as well as excellent wear characteristics there is some point you are exceeding one or more of those properties.

But certainly more details are required for any of us to assist you in determining a solution.

i use the Speedmaster Stinger Strut for 3/16" prop shaft. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...os-stinger-str

      the marine grease. http://www.liqui-moly.de/liquimoly/p...id/e_3509.html
flex, shaft and bushing gets lubed with this after every run.

Could you post pictures of whats happening? I can't seem to grasp how the bushing is breaking. Could be your prop is out of balance.

the prop is a eggneg prop so i exspect it to be in working order. and this have happend with 3 different props all sharpend\balanced by OSE or eggneg so they should be close to perfect sinse they both do exselent work :)

wil post a picture in 3 minutes

            here is the pic`s
never mind the seccond bushing on there. i couldent be botherd to take it out again sinse i already replaced it

the bushing breaks within 1mm of were the prop shaft starts and it is a clean cut as you can se. no edges or anything like that.
checked the 3 prop`s i been using and they are all balanced.

and the distance between the drivedog and the stinger is about 1,5-2mm (1/16 to 5/64 inch)

From the 3 pictures you posted it shows the fracture at the 3rd cross drilled hole. Meaning that its flexing somehow.

But here is the burning question. It appears you have another brass tube inside the stinger. Is this your stuffing tube? If so,......... we found the problem. The bearing/bushing that supports the flex shaft should be hard seated inside the stinger. Not inside another brass tube. There would be too much clearance, hence why the bushing is breaking.

no that is just the bushing that i replaced the one that broke with that was all lubed up so it diddent feel like getting all lubed up my self.

i just took the flex out and put the broken bushing on the shaft to show were i broke and how it looked like.
