Help! Stop my boat from being lost at Sea...

Got my model ready to run tomorrow but after some testing I have discovered when the RX loses signal instead of cutting to the motor the thing goes full power!!!.
    How can I fix this?
Radio system is the Tactic and the esc is a Turnigy 120amp Aquastar.

Is it a setting I can change or do I need to buy another electronic part from somewhere???

It should be a setting that is set for loss of signal where throttle and rudder go to neutral.

      An esc setting?
There is nothing relating to that in the manual....

First you want to make sure the Rx is binded to the Tx. It probably is. But go thru the Bind method that is spelled out in the manual. Next weak batteries in either the TX or Rx can contribute to what you are describing. There is nothing to "adjust" about the failsafe protection. Its a default. If the radio system looses communication the Rx goes to a neutral throttle setting. Unless you have changed something in the throttle setup.

What you need to do is a "Range" check to see where this problem stems from. Obviously its not on the bench. Most problems are simple fixes. But you could have that one "defective" unit and its a factory part issue.

Thanks Dom - that might have to be the answer.

Thanks m4a1usr - Tx is binded. and Both sets of batteries fully charged, Range checks fine...... it's just that when I turn the TX off to TEST what the model would do upon loss of signal it revs up....doesn't matter what my throttle position is when turning off.

Would the default "RX going to neutral setting upon signal loss" be a setting with the Tactic or the esc???

The failsafe should be in the radio, although your ESC should do it as well but on some it takes a few seconds to take effect by which time your boat could be too far out to rescue and if as it sounds like the radio has a failsafe but the failsafe settings are wrong, then as it still has a signal from the radio's failsafe, its own failsafe wont kick in at all.

OK - I think I have worked it out.
My model needs the throttle channel to be reversed to work correctly.
If I calibrate the Tactic with the throttle channel in the 'N' position and then switch it to 'R' (reverse) it sets the failsafe perfectly. Both throttle and rudder go to neutral upon signal loss.

Hopefully it works for you other Tactic guys with the same issue!!!!

I have used a Futaba version in the past on a nitro boat, they work great untill your reciever pack breaks a wire off. then you just wait till it is out of fuel.

The Fail Safe listed in the link only works a servo right? Won't help runaway throttle right?
