Good, Cheap Motor for 6s, 200 amp

New 32" cat project, have a Hydra 240 and two 3s 30C 5k packs in series.

I have a 1527 on order, but in the mean time looking for a good cheap alternate.

I was thinking of the Leopard 5692, but it's too big for the hull.

Curious if there are some cheap alternatives. I'm thinking 1100-1400KV.

110 amps. On 6s you are talking over 3 HP. Not bad. Will take 8s and calls for 150 amp ESC. Bad news, it is going to set you back 3 bills. $10 bills that is!

i am really liking outrunners for the torque they put out. This would seem like a monster.

        5692 way too big. Try a 4074 1400kv http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...?prod=leo-4074

        or http://cgi.ebay.com/Leopard-4-pole-4...ntrol_Vehicles & http://cgi.ebay.com/Leopard-4-pole-4...ntrol_Vehicles.

I go with the first one though. JMO

I was looking at that, but didn't like the reviews... DOA, broken magnets.

Leopard makes a 4082 as well. They make them in 1600kv, 1300kv, and another I think around 1000kv. They are simialar in size to the 1521s. I have a 1300kv on the way to me I plan on running on 7s or 8s.

I hope the OP's packs are at least 4500 mAh or they won't hold up for long to the 1527. Saying your cells are "30C" tells us nothing about the safe discharge rate......

But with only a 55 amp average current it only produces half the power/watts of the Turnigy 4030/1400. Not much of a trade off for a 1mm smaller shaft diameter....

That implies you are planning to put a 1527 in the 32" cat? You do realize you cannot use all of the available horsepower from that motor right? And if you could the prop would be near 3"! With all of the problems of over propping? Even a 1521 is a bit on the over powered side but I am guilty of that build. But a 1527?

I'm not criticizing your plans, you probably want to "play" with this setup and use the motor for something later, but you do know you cannot use that last horsepower plus of power? The motor will not be loaded and generate wasted heat and drain your batteries. Bigger is not better in every application. But playing around with motors and electronics is lots of fun so who the he!! am I to tell you different. Go for it.

I did just notice he said "2" 3s in series...I think the majority of us run xS2P so that one slipped by me.

Fixed the OP. Thanks for catching that. The 4030 looks to be an excellent choice and I have one in hand. Still curious if there's anything out there that will top it...

The 1527 is to match one that I already have and make a pair for a larger potential use later. It IS overkill and may not end up being ideal, but has a better re-use factor down the road.

All sport setups and really just out for fun.

All said, it looks like the 4030/1400Kv is the best overall price/power choice for this configuration. Which is quite convenient as I have one right here. Pretty cool look and feel.

Yeah Fighter, be careful with the 1527 in your cat. I ran on in my sprintcat. It is 34". It isn't you run of the mill cat though. In order for it (the motor) to run efficiently, it WILL need a big prop. With a x455, my temps and speeds were awesome. Propping down to a x648, I lostabout 16mph, and GAINED a lot of heat on the motor. They need to be loaded properly to work efficiently. Depending on what cat you have, it may be possible. Most cats in that size range may not handle the big wheel well. That 1.5d on 5s2p would easily put my cat on it's lid out of the hole if not careful on the throttle!

with 1445kv on 6s it pushes my 39 inch cat very well so should work very well on your cat.
