    New Boater question

hello, i dont know much about boats, and a guy was talking to me with all these brands and stuff, but i dont know if this boat i want to buy is any good, his exact words were

"Its a Villan EX, I converted it to dual brushless motors (Turnigy 36-30s).The escs are new Sea king 35amp escs that can take up too 3s lipo each.. It's got 51mm Graupner K series CF props, Graupner U-Joints, all brand new bushings, new pushrod boots, Traxxas 3/16 shafts, bottom gears replaced with hardened steel gears, and comes with 5mm bore pinions for the Turnigy motors . . I've also got some OSE Medium turn fins that I bought for it but haven't installed yet that I'll include with it.
I would sell it for th $240 shipped to canada."

i have been running land RC for years and know alot about the electronics and things, its just the boat part i dont know much about, any help is appreciated :)

is this a good deal? if it isnt whats a good offer to start at,

    -Nick

51 mm props = fire. For that price, you could do better. look for a decent rtr for a first boat. The SV27 is a good choice.

Larry, you need to actually show up for a race every now and then.

Rumdog is a wise man. Run away from this Villain and find a used direct drive boat such as an SV27 or a 26 DF (or knock off) for less money than the boat you are courting. There are great boats at good prices to found right here. BG

I too agree with the others that have posted...

You would be much further ahead if you buy one of the new SV27R's. Stray away from the Villan...

              Later,
              Mike

That boat is NOT a good deal. You can do better. The dual motors and esc's, etc. are trouble looking for a place. The best RTR for you is probably the UL-1 hydro from Aquacraft. Join the Towerhobbies club for $10 a year and they will send you 'codes' once a month for discounts. If you spend over $300 (the UL-1 is $329 I think), then you get $60 off and free shipping (Not sure about Canada though). Mine cost me $260-270 delivered. It is complete with radio. Just need batteries.

The new revised Supervee is a positive choice as well.

You could also consider our Samurai Catamaran. It is on sale for $399 plus we are giving 10% off to OSE members right now. That makes it $359.10. Shipping to Canada is gonna be high though.

would one of those Oval Master hulls be good, the hull kit for 65$ looks pretty decent for that 29,,

I had one of these boats and it was great. It turns much better than an sv27(no comparison), I got a Carbon Fiber version with a flood chamber on it. You might want to consider getting the hardware for it at OSE though.

I will also say that over about 45mph it tends to fall of of it's "V" a bit, but with a supervee motor it is just right and is plenty fast.
