Does anyone have any experience with a twin setup using props that spin in the same direction? I've tried this before without good results. Hull wants to turn hard to one side and I wasn't brave enough to run it past 20mph, but I see some of the china boats selling rtr with non counter rotating setups. Can this be done safely? Are there tricks to make this kind of a setup work? It would be nice to have a better prop selection.
twin cat non-counter rotating props?

I am putting the twin drive apparition I purchased used back together now, hope to run it this weekend or early next week. It has 36mm twin blade metal props spinning the same direction, so we will see. rudder deflection might be a drag issue keeping it going straight.

the pics but that would open up alot of new set-ups....Comment

What will happen is there will be a lot of prop walk. It will try to lift the port side sponson, and cause the starboard side to dig. Making it want to constantly veer right. It will also be very unstable turning left, likely wanting to roll. The Chinese mfg's probably don't even run boats. Even if they did know the difference, it's probably way easier for them to just make the boats with more common components. I wouldn't do it. there is no reason to.Comment

Most of my twin cats have had props spinning in the same direction. Doesnt make much difference at all. They will turn to the right much better than left, but for oval racing that is not a problem. This has worked for me and my race buddies on cats from 32inch up to CT03s with 2215s in them. Go for it.Comment

Yes, take-off requires some carefull use of thottle . But than again, most of our powerfull single drive cats require just as much attention.Comment

I drove an apparition last weekend with metal props in same direction it worked out totally fine. It actually drove pretty dang good to be honest. It might not be optimal but for sporting around it seemed to work fine. After driving it I want to get one.Comment

Well, I ran mine for two very short spurts. I only had 3s-2200-20c batteries with me. But I put it on the eagle tree and ran it.
No time to make changes or try different things. One sponson definately seemed to ride higher than the other. Think it was the left one, not sure. I was busy avoiding the two crackerboxes my sons were driving!
Once at home, looked at the eagle tree data. Didn't give it enough time to lock onto GPS, so no speed, but the amps were interesting. Coming out of the turn, amps spiked up to 48 amps and within 1.5 to 2 seconds was at an average of about 32 amps for the full throttle run. Turns were at 6 to 16 amps. It was never over 40 amps for a full second. (The engineer in me loves this eagle tree!)
This is a stock twin drive setup. I did sharpen the props more and raised the drives all the way up, but that is pretty much level with the boat sitting on the rid pads. maybe slightly possitive. Will try again in a couple of days and run it longer knowing I am not stressing such small packs for this thing. And to think it has 70amp esc's!
night cap is gone, had a bit of a refresh but I need to get to bed. Good night all.
