    Prop size?? Delta force Neu

Hi, Cheers for all the help with my DF 45 (35.5 inch). 6s Neu 1527 1Y, ETTI HV 200amp. I got it together and gave her a run with a X450 prop. Everything went well and came in ice cold. 25 -28 celcius. Does anyone have any ideas?? Is a X455 too much?

A three bladed prop usually gives you better out of the hole speeds, acceleration, but can cost you top end speed due to more surface area. But not in every application. A 455 sounds right in the area you should be for that size hull. I remember Mad Mike saying he ran a 457 and a 460 in the larger 39 inch DF.

i am running the same setup as you with the same boat...suprisingly i have had some of my best results with the x646 3 blade prop...my runtime was much longer and the speed was about the same as the larger x452-x455 props..the x452 would only last a couple of minutes...with the 3 blade the handling is incredible...i am really considering dumping a 2215 or leopard 5692 and overpower it to see where the limits of the hull are..i love this hull...what are you getting for speeds on 6s? on 6s i get 55 withe the 3 blade...on 7s i get 61

Ill have to get some more testing done.. Ive only been out twice. I've only tried a mates X450which i got 6 min. I have a de-tounged x450 on its way but will probly try a couple other props and gps. So ill get back to ya. How long is your rudder past the bottom of yor hull? I think mine is too long. Its about 60mm or 2.4 inches.

Yes, an x450 is very mild on this setup. I run a pitched up and detongued x455 on my 34" cat with speeds around 60 and good temps. For more speed you need more pitch, not diameter. That's why some folks do well with 3-bladed props with a higher pitch ratio; their smaller diameter for the same load effects handling less, and with more pitch they can be faster.
              Pitch:
              x450......2.75"
              x646/3...2.89"
              x455......3.03"
              P230......3.00"
              P235......3.20"

Hmm, ok. So will a 42mm prop with 3.2 pitch will go faster than a 48mm prop with 2.8 pitch??

If the prop diameter is too small for the boat, it will cavitate forever no matter what pitch is.

For your boat I guess a min. 45mm diam. prop is required and you can never end testing props, the 646/3 is great to test, Fluid's recommended props are the ones.

Not trying to be funny or anything just want to say that you need to consider more things than just size and pitch when comparing propellers.Too big or too small a prop both equally in my opinion have a detrimental effect on a boats performance. Poor performance may manifest itself in many ways when one uses the wrong prop .If you want to go off somoene elses experience totally you better be shure you know all the factors:strut depth, strut angle, and lasly (this one will be very hard to judge) who prepared the props.Start small and work your way up but as before mentioned by the above member you can never be finished testing and rating props. One things for sure you got some nice gear to test them on;so you know i need video.

                        Speedmaster hardware is quite attractive!
