    DF Copy 33

I just bought this boat on the swap shop.Id like it to do at least 50 mph.Heres what I have-a Neu 1515 1Y,Turnigy 180 esc,and two 2s packs to put in series for 4s.It would be 32,560 rpm.And I dont know about what size prop yet.
Second option would be a Fiageo 580 9L which is 1426 kv.I can run this on 6s and get 31,657 rpm.I know that the Neu motor is more efficient and reliable but, also relatively inexpensive. The Neu motor is a 4 pole where the Fiageo is a 2 pole.Im also open to prop suggestions for both motors.Im pretty sure the hull is 33".Havent recieved it yet to measure it.

i personally dont like the 580s much.
i would go with the neu, i had a 9xl in my DF cyberstorm 32" and was just doing 50
what esc, a x640 with the neu should get you close to 50 i would think, but will pull some decent amps.

I just finished a df33 this eve and went with the neu 1521 1860kv and plan to use a x648/2 prop with 4S2P through a hydra 240. I imagine a 450/3 prop would be top end and speeds likely 60mph easy.

For what it is worth this is what I used on my DF 33 to go more 60 mph. I would not recommend this prop for other than SAW type runs as you would soon see smoke. An X642 should see you into the 50's without any problem. With this motor on 4s it will not take a great prop to get into the mid 50's.

        4s1p ThunderPower 45C, Neu 1515 1Y, Hydra 240, Andym M645 = 102 kph or 63.38 mph
Several boats in various stages of destruction

I dont see a 645 being a problem on that motor at all. Infact if my df29 would handle anything bigger than a s215 I would be all over a 645 for it. I run a 1515 2200kv in my df29 but with a 642 it does infact hit just 50mph. Great setup.

I also have a KB45 1000kv that is an option also.I know the Neu is the most reliable of them all.Just looking for some decent speed without pushing a lot of amps and heat.I still need to learn more about props I can use.The ones I have so far are Octura X442,X445,Grimracer 40x57 3 blade,40x52 3 blade, and a 38x55.I have no prob buying a few more for this hull if need be.

I had great success with a Neu 1521/1y on 6s. The hull ran blazing fast but had some hardware trimming issues in the beginning that needed to be worked out. Key to these hulls are COG. They like to run loose. With the bigger motor I had no problem spinning up larger props. You should have no problem with up to a M645 on the 1515/1y.

The m645 that Paddy is talking about has a lot of pitch added, with good water cooling this prop on Paddy's set up would do race distance with mill lap but would be pushing his 1P set up if ran longer.

I am wondering how many people have got one of these props off you Andy. Yes there are M645 props and then there are Andym M645 props. Chalk and Cheese.
