Anodizing Removal

Id like to remove the blue anodizing from my strut,rudder,and mount,etc...
Is there a way to remove it?Id like to get it polished.Any suggestions?

Easy off oven cleaner or any oven cleaner, spray it on let it sit then rub it off.

Aside from the Greased Lightning they use, other folks have used Easy Off oven cleaner, but you have to be careful how long you let it sit in it.

I used miquires chrome wheel cleaner spray took it right off on stuff i tried it on...easy off and stuff don't work to good.

Sodium hydroxide is the working bit.(drain cleaner), I use the ones that are in a form of beads, not liquid.

Add warm water in a steel on a glass cup/whatever that can take some heat.

I use about 3 litre cattle, ~ .5 to 1dl of cleaner, ~1L of warm water and that´s it.

Do it outdoors and use proper safety gear,it will start boiling and very strong vapors start coming off it.

The chemical reaction is really strong after the alloy parts are added,(starts to boil and foaming)it will only take seconds to take the anod. off. Take the parts off using pliers or something, it will be HOT!

And I am serious when I say it is dangerous, do It outdoors and be careful.


The parts will look dark gray, just wipe the gray off them, wet sand them with 240,then 400 grit and polish them with some autosol/chrome cleaner and then you are done.



This is how I do this, but it is not the only way.

Yeah, I'll agree that the easy off works, but its not easy off...lol...the parts I've done needed some sanding and polishing afterwards even for a decent finish. But it does work.
