    Prop recomendations please!

I've got a fiegao 7s for my rigger. I tested the motor for the first time today and after just a few seconds of running WOT it got warm. This leads me to believe it might be a problem keeping this baby cool while in the boat. I've got a silicone water jacket on it now (i originally had a DIY coil). I was aiming for 30K rpms on 2s. I dont wanna over prop this thing and

        I've got a 3/16 prop shaft....thinking I may have been better off with 1/8"

Running any motor wide open without a load will heat it up fast. Don't do it!

The "S"-sized motors have little torque and are better suited to smaller, lighter models. Mostly they run best on the small, 1/8" props. Aiming for 30,000 rpm means loading that motor a lot, it will overheat and not run efficiently. A minimum of 35,000 rpm is better, that means a very small prop.

I believe you'd be better off with a 7L or 8L motor in that heavy Lil Rascal. We run 7Ls in our 2S Sport Hydros spinning m440s with speeds in the high 40s.

Yeah, I'd have suggested a 430, 432...you can still run those props, just get a 3/16 stub thats stepped down to 1/8 Octura and hughey sell them.

An x430 or x432 probably would not run in the 35k rpm range either then. Maybe an x427?

The thrust cone on a 27mm prop is so tiny it would have trouble pushing your model. Take the advice or not, but the motor is simply too small for the model if you want exciting performance. The Kv is also excessive regardless of can size.

                    I'm running a 7S in my JAE12 and use a X432 and a modded X632 amps will range between
90-120 acording to my eagletree logger the boat weighs 2.46 lbs RTR using a turngy 5000 mah pack. Like Jay said switch to the L size can or use a stub shaft reduced down to 1/8 and try starting with a X430.My motor temps are around 118F after 3 minutes off running.

I have a Feigao 7S that i have used in my mid size rigger with a 632 and a 2 cell lipo.
It goes very well but it is important to note that my rigger is quite light (and fragile) and was designed for straight passes on smooth water. Acceleration is not its strong point.
For that same hull I amd now trialing a 12S 2980kv S-size motor on a 637 and it all loks a lot better

The 7S with a 432 is a nice setup in a small hull but the 632 brings on the amps fast.

I am not familiar with the rigger you have but Jay is and suggests something different to the 7S. That will be good advise.

Hope this may have been of some help.
                      See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

I think I'm going to have to swap the s out for an L size motor with more torque. No sense risking $$ when this is just a sport setup. what KV should i shoot for on 2s packs?

As in my previous post, a 7L or 8L would probably be best. They will allow you to swing a large enough prop spinning fast enough to get decent speeds. We get high 40s with the 7L and an m440.
