affordable r/c boats

don't know what's affordable but this sport has got to grow more.
i build my own boats from sctach. some wood some fiberglass some ABS and use the best hardware for each project.
i saw some kids watching ole reddywatts and robby76 at the lake and they came over. we talked let them hold our boats after seeing us run our boats. it's hard to tell parents how much we spend. BUT.......
here on this we site under links is a short cut to ebays r/c boats. those are some good boats even though the quality is not up to hold up to 20 mph.
i bought a 34 inch mono twin 380 bruched motors batteries w/charger & radio new for $19 plus $35 in shipping. i looked it over and it will hold its own for a kid. so now i am loooking for this family that had three little boys who were on cloud 9 this one particular day.
we can make a difference for this sport.

Ya know it's not a bad idea to put somthing like that in the truck when I head to the lake. When you get (Mr Mr) hand it over and let the kid have a spin. Great idea Robby :).

isnt that why there are boats like the reef racer, zigzag and Mini-v even the sw26 which is only about 140 are not too awfully expensive and they are pretty good boats. at least the SW and Miniv are hobby grade boats.

The problem with those things is the size to speed ratio and cost to upgrade.
They may go 10-15 mph but the size of them makes it look like a turtle.
And upgrading one to get real speed is very expensive and a undertaking. Thats why I like the mini vee. Its size to speed radio is outstanding. It will easily run 15mph and keep the kids attention. Its also a size they can handle by themselves.
My two boys ran their mini vees well over a hundred runs this summer. They have not ever enjoyed that much fun with my larger boats.

I get a email each day from someone that bought a vector boat. What wound you recommend for an upgrade? New motors, esc, radio, rudder. The price to upgrade is not worth the hastle, unless you like to tinker and make your own boat. Something most fist timers dont want to undertake.

yes it is. like steve said, costly to upgrade. hull is nice.

I have an NQD hydro myself... I agree it is a good looking hull but would cost me a small fortune to upgrade. I also have a SW26 and a mini-v that I am doing a few minor upgrades on but I am leaving them pretty much stock for now, and I like them alot.

my Xcyclone didn't cost me a fortune to upgrade, 100$ for motor and esc (the entire hardware is hand made) and a bunch of carbon prop, RC stuff was in stock!
