    Duo ii question

Decided to learn more about my Duo.

Took a 4S pack and charged it full.

Discharged it down to 60%. I thought!

Put it back on the Duo and the charge level read 44%.

I done this more than once.

My question is: Is the battery at 60% charge or is it at 44%? Am I right in assuming the 60% discharge is what I took out of it?

    Thanks - Doug

    To the top.

Come on. No experts? No opinions?

The Hyperion manual sucks! No internet info either!

Good question... I have a Hyperion and don't really know either...
But I am trusting that the "Store" algorithm for Lipos is a good one and I use that right after I run my packs (vs. a manual discharge level). I'm not sure why I'd ever use "discharge" vs. store unless I really wanted to fully discharge a pack (maybe to kill a defective pack).

It does takes me longer to "store" than to "charge", so I suspect "store" puts the battery at 60% of full capacity...(so when I "charge" I am topping off the remaining 40%). But I could be wrong about that...

        Doug,

you may have a better chance posting something here.... http://www.rcgroups.com/batteries-an...129/page2.html

There is a guy on there with the screen name NipponDave and he seems to be one of two resident experts on the Hyperion chargers. Here is a good thread that discusses all of the duo chargers including the Duo3. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...highlight=duo3

I have had an original Duo and now have 2 Duo3's. I have never experienced what your describing. Maybe you have found an issue with yours.

Is your firmware up to date?

Now that I think more about it.... What about the voltage readings with the battery hooked up to the charger vs. voltage readings using a volt meter or something similar... The % of capicity is measured using the pack voltage.

            Thanks Mike

I just posted the question on RC Groups.

Iv'e got 4 Duo II's and I think they all do the same thing. I'll double check tonight along with the volt meter check.

How does one check the firmware version?

I also would have e-mailed the manufacturer but can't even find where or how to do this.

Nippon Dave seems to be the go-to guy. Some time ago I was referred to him to get a replacemrnt LCD panel for one of my Hyperions. & he found one for me [don't let the sun shine on them, they deteriorate, btw].

The only thing I can say about your situation is that "My Amp Goes to Eleven"

                No worries Doug,

You know, I will take a look on my charger tonight. I have some packs that I put into "storage" via one of my Duo's. I will put it on the charger tonight or tomorrow and see what it tells me.

You can tell what firmware is installed as soon as you power up the charger. It flashes some initial information for a few seconds before going to the main charging screen. It looks like v4.7 should be the latest and greatest for the Duo2
