Castle just anounced its new firmwares for Phoenix and Mamba ESCs, I noticed on its website they've included the support for HYDRA ICE & ICE HV ESCs. Looks like its finally coming right after I finished adding water cooling to a Phoenix ICE HV160.
Considering the number of Marine ESCs Castle has to warranty compared to air versions a price premium would be expected. If only folks would read the instructions and follow them......

to be honest. i never hold my breath when it comes to castle. had my 2 "accidents" with hydras in the past but they are great controllers when they work.
so if the hydra ice is as good as a working hydra 240 i would pay $300 for it.

You have never had a Hydra meltdown????

rrrra rrrra read? I just look at the pictures. Pretty colors!
There has been that occurance when someone blows a controller and the 1st question I ask them is "Did you read the directions and calibrate the controller?" The looks given back are quite memorable. Something along the lines of "was I supposed to do that?". ugh!
Only after running/abusing them in SAW boats - knock wood. Some burned down during SAW runs, others lasted a few months after then let go. But I don't make the obvious mistakes as are reported here on an almost daily basis by those who seem to make a hobby of burn up Hydras. Alan highlights one of them above.
I always run receiver packs.
I never run at the maximum recommended voltage.
I always use short power wires or add caps.
I never run 1P except in spec setups.
I always run the newest firmware.
I never run inappropriate timing advance settings.
I always run with the current limiter enabled.
I never run so long that the ESC overheats.
Adhering to the above limits has helped me preserve my Hydras (6 in total). I do know that a bad one will come along, I just haven't had one....yet.
