Change the prop or motor. Which motor came with the boat?

The esc can be set to run on nimh batteries but why would you want to, i thought it would be real expensive to change over to lipos but i got myself a turnigy accucel 6 and some lipos from hobby king. Once you have a charger they arent really any more expensive than nimhs i think, correct me if im wrong.

If you melted the plastic covering, those batteries are toast and they could vent and blow up if you use them again

Do you have more room in the hull to add another set of batteries and run in parrallel?

To run that speed, it takes current. You either prop down to lower amps, drop cells to lower amps or increase current supply and add weight. Nothing magical about an esc to make it draw less current while maintaining the same speed.

From what i have learned over the years, a quality nimh can only supply about 35-40 amps of juice..................your motor is trying to pull up in to 80's...............the batts cant keep up and they will always run smokin' hot.
NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? QUALITY 5.5MM, 8MM, 8 AND 10 AWG, GET THEM HERE: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...est!&highlight=

I use to have the same problem melting wrapping and it was just something I dealt with until I popped a cell!! Sounded like a .22 or .25 cal gun was shot in my boat, the hatch flew about ten feet up in the air ( never to be found again ) and I had to take a swim to get my boat. Was that it? NO!! The next day my wife washed my clothes to find a hundred little holes in my t-shirt and jeans, from what I assume was dry acid that liquafied and ate my clothes as I swam threw it! Now, should you believe anything I just said???? Take your chances and see if your outcome will be the same. I suggest you do what these guys say and amp down one way or another. Going to a size or two smaller prop won't make you loose 20 mph but it might just save your setup...
