    Eagle Tree RPM sensor

    Ok gang,

Looking to get my eagle tree.

I am looking at a way to be able to use the same RPM sensor on multiple motors/boats.

If I understand it correctly- I just hook up two wires of the sensor to the motors wires- any 2.

Is it possible that I can run a small set of wires out of the motor into a mini power plug like one of these:

This will allow me to quickly swap the sensor out and into other boats. Doesnt add much weight...

    Thoughts? Opinions?

just use servo style plugs male on the ET unit and female on the motors.
i do it the easy way, strip off some insulation (about 1/4 inch) put that end in the female plug and just push the male side in. plugs are not needed.

    yes any 2 wires.

there are three different rpm sensor available for the EagleTree, the optical one (requires a black strip around spinning part), the magnetic one (Hall effect sensor that requires a magnet to be attached to a spinning part) and the electric one for brushless motors, if you only have BL powered boat, then you need some kind of pair quick connexion between motor and sensor, if you have both brushless and brushed motor then the optical or magnetic one are somehow better.

I would only be using this with brushless motors.

Ok, I will go ahead with a quick disconnect then. I figured it would work but wanted to ask te more knowledgeable people here first.

I do the same thing. Strip the last 3/16 bare and pinch it in two of the motor/esc bullets. I have never done this on a high amperage setup, but it has worked so far.
