Help- Flex shaft seizing in strut

I installed a new .150 flex w/new strut. I used a 3/16 gap between strut and prop. I used teflon with the shaft and cut it longer so that it would fit into strut further. Could this have caused the shaft to sieze in strut?

If you don't pull the shaft & grease it after every session & it is running dry , the friction & heat buildup can melt the teflon & cause it to bind up on the flex.
Is this what happened? Or is it the stub shaft in the strut bearings that siezed?
    Paul.
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

Prop- new/balanced and shapened. Lube everything just before running. The only thing I did was change the length of the teflon tube. Made it longer to fit into strut better. I think when I did this it did not allow the shaft to shrink. I kept a gap of 3/16. What do you guys think. Would this cause it the stub shaft to sieze in the strut?

Did everything turn free by hand before you ran the boat?

Yes, everything was spinning free. After 2min on the water at nearly full throttle boat came to a stop.
