is it worth really upgrading to a wire drive ?? doesn t seem to be much more $$$... plus steve is out of the octura flex right now :) any suggestions as to what size would do the trick ???
I would, no teflon tubing, no worries about drive dog/prop shaft gap, less chance of water being drawn up the stuffing tube via flex shaft. Jeff Wohlt is a member here and has a website with all the parts to hook you up. http://rcraceboat.com/StorePAGE.html
seems like there are more benifits to wire drives if you use a forward motor mount, ie a long stuffing tube.... i was planning on placing the motor toward the rear of the boat so i might just stick with a flex... the 9xl is a pretty heavy little motor... reckon i ll be able to get the correct COG if i mount the motor just froward of the transom ?? is a wire drive worth the extra $$$ if it s only gonna be 4" s or so ??
