A TOTAL mah limit should be in order, however possible. Ill be honest, I went all out for the N2 batts for next year, 2X 25C 5000mah 7.4 paralled = 10,000. If a guy's running 2x 2500mah 25c 7.4 packs I will have a minimum of 5 mph advantage.

not always, yes batteries can make a big difference, but over all set up and hull design will play a bigger part. I ran 2x 7.4v 4350 20c lipos in series in my p sport hydro, against Mike Frazzini's p sport hydro powered by a 4s1p 5000 25c pack, he couldnt catch my hydro for top speed, that being said, Chuck Alarid, owns Paul Pachmayers(spelling?) heavily modified H&M Viper, powerd by a 8L and 2x 11.1v 25c 2100mah , this hydro was clearly the high speed king, to bad Chuck couldnt drive it , due to unfamilarity with it in race water.

That's not hard to work around... Limit the mah to say 5000... based on the manufacturers rating for the pack...

          Love this idea!

I like the spec classes for one reason, cost. -batts I have under $200 total in my lso boat. and about the same in my lsh! :D

Here is a idea that would require someone to do the job. The club decides on the battery type, c rating mah or what ever. Then the club makes each member pay a battery fee for the year. The person in charge buys how ever many sets of packs all the same. He then can number them and either give them to a said member randomly for a month then swap them around the folloowing month or have them ready to race the day of the event and hand them out randomly and recollect them at the end of the day.

At least it would keep the batterys all the same. Just a idea

my 2 cents here. i raced in the 1980's and a class was a class. ie A hydro, B hydro, C hydro, Sport40 and so on. some used 20% nitro, 30%, 40%. pipes were all different, carbs were all different, cylinders honed out. Same here years later. keep the classes. if not, then ...same motor, same esc, same batts, same prop, same radio.

our club is moving twords the SV27 motor as a spec motor. SV27 motor, any ESC and 1p lipo max, any size and C rating as far as I know. As long as it's 1p.

I keep hearing about a limit on "mah" and "c". how about u have a min and a max amount of each. like have them in between say like in "mah" somin like this in between 2500 and 5000. If this doesnt work then the idea of using the batt that ur club gives u for a race might work. just a thought

I say you just put hull-length limits in place and quit worrying about the rest...

If 3 things are limited, Hull, rudder and turn fin size you can limit the amount of usable horsepower and keep the classes very even and is very easy to tech.

I hate to put a bad spin on this but even in spec class racing the fast guys will still be fast. Its called consistency. I seen this happen in LSH all season long (you cant get more spec than that) 3 heats plus a main every race in this class and one of the SLOWER boats took the LSH championship, but his lap times were consistent every race. compared to the much faster boats whose lap times were all over the place. his consistency made him faster than the rest of us. just me 02 cents worth.
