    Race class issues

Ok so I think we need to rethink the classes. The spec classes will no longer be spec by most of the active clubs in the country by the end of this year.

For starters I think we need these classes.

Stock mono 30" or less with a motor & esc that msrp at $250 or less
Stock full body hydro 30" or less with a motor & esc that msrp at $250 or less

I will be adding to this as I get time today.

I think we should make the power of the classes first
Type of racing second. And specifics of the scale 3rd.

i also agree that there should be some provisions for twin motors in some classes.

Sounds good, any type or amount of motors you can put together for under $250 with the esc. I like it.

The batts are going to be the real stinger though. Was spinning through the new tower catalog, and traxxas has a graph listed with speeds of their new brushless cars, it was interesting to see the 25c 8000mah pack was 5 mph faster than the 25c 4000mah pack.

Steven go read the Rocky Mountain Thunder Boats 2008 ruleson RRR, our club is sticking with spec class rules for sometime.

That's not hard to work around... Limit the mah to say 5000... based on the manufacturers rating for the pack...

Not perfect, but then either is the MSRP idea... I think that people in this hobby generally want to follow the rules and make sure they are legal... Just make it their responsibility to provide the documenation to validate their equipment...

This could be a really good thread if everyone threw in thier ideas, I am pretty sure the reason we are seeing a lot of modding/changes to the spec classes is because its a big jump financially to go above them. I have already started to see posts on other forums, lets just run the AQ motor with any ESC. It would be nice to have a common set of rules. When you could dig around online and put together a XL size motor and 120 amp controller for $100 bucks.

Me thinks classes should be based on any motor/motors/esc you can put together for under "X" amount.

                    Alright start bashing me... lol

What about for batteries having a max "C" rating along with the max "mah" rating for the stock classes. Or maybe having a max safe amp discharge rating. Like maybe the total batteries, whether paralleled or not, can not be capable of more than 150 amps as an example.

Or we can take Doozies angle an put a price limit on the packs.

I would think it would be tough to set an accurate price, there are a lot of different brands of batteries. The "mah" and "C" ratings mean the same thing from battery to battery.

That is kinda what I thought you were suggesting in a previous thread. I think it is an interesting idea to try on some of the classes! It would add another demension to racing.

It would be an interesting conversation to hear how exactly one would enforce a set of rules like that...
