    mhz z drives

    hi all,

do any of you have any testing/experience with the z drives sold on mhz usa..if i am reading it correctly it has a gearbox inside which can give you 16% more rpm at the prop?!?! i want to put one on my df sniper with a 2230 1y...on 12s lipo..in theory the 2230 would be turning 32000 unloaded rpms but with the z drive i could be spinning closer to 40000!!!!...am i making sense here or is this not how it would work...to gain rpm without gaining heat/amp draw is incredible...these drives look sweet..maybe some of you bigger scale guys can shed some light on these and clarify my confusion

Indeed, the gearset inside the drive increases the rpm's by 16%
However this does NOT mean you get "free" rpms without heat/amp draw.
You have to do the maths with this drive, decrease the propdia !
You should not use the same prop as if you are running a direct-drive setup !

Most of all : the looks.
        It's a "scale-drive"

10-4 thanks gerwin..maybe i should stick with my reliable 40 dollar speedmaster instead...they are very nice pieces though
