Ghetto Tree (Cheap azz remote temp thingy)

A cheap alternative to monitor temps...

I can't seem to make up my mind on what telemetry setup to go with and they are expensive, so before I drop a nice sized nickel on a good setup, thought I'd give one of these a try.

Pretty cool. You can set the alarms up to beep at any of the steps on the scale. Would have saved my ESC yesterday. The Tx part fits in the boat well too. It's tiny, like the size of a BEC...

There's some good info in the discussions section about the battery. I just used a small 2s lipo and works for hours. Some have tapped into the charging port on their Tx's.

What do you mean up to date? I've already installed it! It's awesome!

Here's a shot of the Tx installed in the boat (it runs off of the lipo tap)

I used a JST-XH extension. I runs off of 2-6s & up because of the connector design, it can be plugged in to just about any lipo. It does not work off of BEC power. (I tried it)

I haven't tested the signal distance, but it does pick up where it left off when the Tx is powered on/off.

Hey fighter, nice equipment. Just happened to catch a glimpse of your water jacket...........if thats the way you run it, you are only cooling about 1/2 of the motor. The exit nipple needs to be at the highest position at the back of the motor. You may already know this...............just thought i would point it out.

Yeah, I know. There's a blurb about it in my apparition thread. The original installation was 180 degrees flipped, but wouldn't clear the hatch. The bad part is the cooling can is notched for the wires, because it's for the 2200Kv motor and this is the shorter 2650kv motor. So when the motor flipped, so did the can. The exact opposite of how it should be.

Fortunately, I don't have any heat issues with this one. I could probably take the can off and be OK.

Ran it again this morning, it does have a somewhat limited range, but picks up automatically when back in range.

It doesn't even register till 120 though. So if temps are all good, there's no lights. Would have been better to start at 80 or 90, but no complaints. It's a great failsafe so far. =)

I have one of these, had it for a while, they work quite well, Although the range isnt that hot, you can still check temps when you come past the drivers stand
