would the thrust of twin 45mm props equal that of 1 90mm prop more or less?

spinning at high rpm I wouldnt think twins would have the thrust one 90 would. you may obtain higher speeds with two 45's but more thrust with the 90. Just A somewhat educated guess.

no, this is for the 50" apache. i want to keep my props in a small size range so the struts can be close thus they can be lower on the hull

a 90 would have more thrust. deeper into water, more surface area than 45's combined. The rest would depend on your pitch and torque. I dont think 45's even together would get you where you need to be with a hull that size.

not really. I dont think there is a easy way to measure surface area on a prop blade but, if you could I bet the difference between 50 and 45mm props. surface area would be around 20 square mm area more on the 50. I hope that makes sense.

I think this is a great prop sizing thread and wish maybe a couple FE addicts would chime in to correct me if needed

Well, that there again depends on motor size. Personally a 50" boat should go with a couple kb10xl's or try 14xl Feigaos. Prop size should be v937/3 or m447's. The other hard thing is getting props L and R. I have never tried a twin with motors spinning same direction but someone outta try it just to how bad propwalk really is. Remember I dont know everything but have been in your spot and just educated advise.

ABCprops has a great selection of L&R props. 2,3,4, & 5 bladers don't under estimate the KB45-10XL steve here sells. 'ole reddywatts has been testing it. VERY promising.
someone said they were fiegaos on steroids. after witnessing reddywatts cat come to life i believe that statement
