    1/4 scale Cobra

    Hi Guys.

I am building a 1/4 scale Chris Craft Cobra It is 54" long and weighes
22 lb. without drivetrain. I would like to get recomendations on what
electric motor, esc and battery system to use to obtain scale speeds. Any
ideas would be appreciated. Thank you, Gary

      1/4 scale Cobra

Hi, I haven't decided yet. Thats why I'm asking questions first. I was going to use
either a 26 PUM or a Honda four cycle but after talking to a couple of other fellows,
I am thinking about electric drive train. Since i will probably have the boat in the house when not running it ,a gasoline system may not be a good idea. Thank you
      for your responce, Gary

You could run a G26 on camp fuel ( colman) ,no gas smell. Larry

            1/4 scale Cobra

Hi guys, I am attempting to show pictures of my Cobra. This boat is totally scratch
built , even the hardware was made from solid blocks of brass. I have just got word they are ready for me to pick up from being chrome plated. I still have to make windsheild frame and do the dash, I need to find pictures of the gages so I
can make the gage faces to finish it . The last part is to decide on the drive train,
gas or electric. The electric solves the problem of odors and oily mess as well as providing a way to have reverse. I would appreciate any imput from others.

Seems like a couple brushed 540's to a gear box with the prop under the boat would be best for dependability and run time. I would not expect to see any great speed. All the parts you would need could even be found here at the OSE store except the gear box. It should allow you to run a pretty scale sized prop and have reverse. You should be able to run both motors off one esc and have plenty of room for cells to power it. Put a good cooling pickup on it as the brushed motors may build up heat with long run times. VERY nice job on your build. I know many that would love to own it!

I would check out Kershaw designs. They offer some very large brushed motors for monster trucks that put out a ton of torque. Take a look at the 700HO. http://204.186.93.64/Motors-ESCs-Brushed.htm

I think they are the same motors used in DeWalt tools.
