Not a problem SJFE, I would still like some answers. Mr and Master Smock!!!!

I ordered a M545 /2 prop with my motor order. I thought it would be the prop for this KB45 10XL. I have not tried it because the smaller props (X640) were pulling 92 amps peak on my 100 amp controller. I like more headroom in the amps department. If you are running a higher amp controller and batteries, go for it.
These are two pole motors.Last edited by ReddyWatts; 09-27-2007, 05:18 PM.ReddyWatts fleet photo

It was using about 80 amps peak with the X442 prop.
Be careful with that M545 prop, it is really a M547, if you measure it. Might want to file it down 2mm?Last edited by ReddyWatts; 09-27-2007, 06:14 PM.ReddyWatts fleet photo

Robby76 videoed the KB45 10XL. I am not sure why it came out blurry, but will give you an idea of what this motor can do. I dont think I will be needing a Neu motor for a while. lol! Its flying now!

I was getting disappointed with the KB45 10XL motor, until I found the right prop. It is a screamer. Time will tell if it will hold together. I only have $180 in the motor and controller and running a 34" cat hull in the 40's with no trans on NiMH cells. Hope to get a better video and setup info later. Hope you guys will find the right setup for the other KV motors. I am really excited about this one. Its a sportsmans paradise.
Steven has done it again for FE.Last edited by ReddyWatts; 09-28-2007, 12:46 PM.ReddyWatts fleet photo

I used the Y537/3, that no one else seems to like. It lets the motor rev up without using a trans. The smaller three blades are the trick. It will cavitate a little from a dead start in the M1.
I also use it on the Fiegao 14XL on 24 cells in the Mean Machine.Last edited by ReddyWatts; 09-28-2007, 05:15 PM.ReddyWatts fleet photo

If you want to spend more money on a setup, some people are running the M1 Supercat KB 10XL on 6s2p 30c lipo on a M545 prop with a 240 amp controller and getting speeds in the 50's. This setup will cost over $500 more for an extra 10 mph.
Mine is the poor mans setup with NiMh's and a 100 amp controller.Last edited by ReddyWatts; 09-28-2007, 06:09 PM.ReddyWatts fleet photo

5S1P 25C lipo...Sentilon 100 ESC...KB45 10XL...X440 and X640. Hardware will be Fullers Offshore Cat. Does anybody wished to be advised on progress? Please note that hull is due to arrive in a week and I will paint the hull first and let it cure for 20 days prior to installing hardware etc.

Just be careful Scotsman, this motor is an amp hog. Keep us updated.ReddyWatts fleet photo

I for one would like to see a build thread in this one please. I agree with Reddy. I saw 160amp spikes in my dpr data on the 16 nihm's. That was an 7 pound setup. My Hex120 topped out at 130 degrees and survived with no ill affects. I would suggest one of them or somthing similar for your app. Better to sell the 100 amp esc now then burn it up & it be worthless.Comment

SJFE, I was surprised to discover that on a HV setup with a Fiegao or KB45 motor that if you go to a smaller diameter 3 bladed prop, but with more pitch, it will unload the motor enough for it to rev up and get into a better power band. It has increased the speed with less amp draw. I have found this on two different 1200 KV motors.ReddyWatts fleet photo

Thanks, Reddy and SJFE for the cautions.
I presumed this motor ...KB45 10XL 1200KW motor would demand arround 90 peak amps and 60 constant with a 440 prop I will now start with a Y536 based on your experiences and monitor amp draw with my Eagle Tree Micro. What are the max amps you have seen with 40 diam props? I also may run 4S1P to compare but I expect that will not enough voltage.
I will do a build thread and show it on completion. I am slow, so do not expect to see it for about 2 months.
Also, I am led to believe that the Sentilon 100 ESC is pretty tough. I have one in my Fullers 29.5" Delta Force and it runs cool with no water or fan coolingComment
